◎简 介
尼克松（弗兰克·兰格拉 Frank Langella 饰）在水门事件后下台，却始终未曾对公众承认过自己的错误，欠美国人民一个道歉。福斯特（麦克·辛 Michael Sheen 饰）是一个在澳大利亚主持脱口秀的英国花花公子，在直播中看见尼克松搭乘直升飞机离开白宫时萌生采访他的意念并决定付诸实践。
没有人对福斯特抱有期望，没有电视公司愿意出钱购买他的采访，朋友约翰（马修·麦克费登 Matthew Macfadyen 饰）找来业内著名的新闻人鲍勃（奥利弗·普莱特 Oliver Platt 饰）和对尼克松研究颇深的詹姆斯来组成一个小组，开始进行资料挖掘。福斯特自己掏钱付了头笔的采访费，获得了与尼克松见面的机会，并且敲定了连续采访的日子。小组拼命准备问题以便逼尼克松在采访中认罪。尼克松的智囊团也在忙碌地准备应答，他们从不把福斯特放在眼内。正式采访开始，福斯特招架不住尼克松滔滔不绝的自辩，这一切让福斯特破釜沉舟，寻找突破口……
